The Florida Highway Patrol Announces Two New Majors
~ Two Captains Promoted to Major ~
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Director Colonel Gene Spaulding announced today that Captains Christopher Dellapietra and Joseph Franza are being promoted to Major. Major Dellapietra will lead Troop E – Miami, and Major Franza will lead Troop D – Orlando, both effective October 30, 2015.
Troop D is the largest of the FHP troops and is comprised of six central Florida counties, Orange, Osceola, Lake, Seminole, Volusia and Brevard. Troop D is the hub of national and international space activities, theme parks, and speedways.
Troop E covers both of Florida’s southernmost counties, Miami-Dade and Monroe. In serving both counties, troopers must be able adjust to the diversity of the metropolitan area of Miami and of the tourist destination of the beautiful Florida Keys.
“Major Dellapietra and Major Franza have both proven themselves as leaders during their tenure with the Patrol,” said Col. Gene Spaulding. “They will be an excellent addition to the executive leadership staff and will help to further the mission of the Florida Highway Patrol.”
Major Christopher Dellapietra is a 29-year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol. Major Dellapietra began his FHP career in 1989, serving in Troop E – Miami after graduating from the 78th Basic Recruit Class.
Major Joseph Franza is a 14-year veteran of the Florida Highway Patrol who graduated from the Patrol’s 99th recruit class in August of 2001 and started his career in Troop F – Arcadia.
